The House - living room

Before:

The previous owners took two beautiful, bright colors and then overwhelmed this room with both of them. I'll give them credit though for the beautiful moulding, built-in shelves, fireplace, and lights.

After:

We re-finished the original wood floors, my dad played a huge part in that and Chad put in tons of sanding time too. The floors were an old light color before, so we chose a dark walnut.

We sanded, stained, and put a few coats of polyurethane on the floor. Here's a few pictures of the process (so you can feel our pain).

We also painted the walls studio taupe which is a gray/taupe color that I absolutely love, and we repainted the baseboards white.
Here is the finished product (minus the decor).

and then I painted the built-in shelves black (took forever)....

We were lucky to have help from both of our parents and I was incredibly lucky to have the help and company of Andrea while painting all the walls. She was a trooper. Mike also pitched in helped us out tons with the sanding, I'm glad they live so close to us.

And these two were the best helpers of all

Okay here are the most recent pictures, the final product... (I think):

The House - out of doors

I'm happy to have a garage, come summertime though we're repainting that door...

one of the best parts of this house.... the pool!

and again

and here is the deck, the best part is that the previous owners left behind some really nice deck furniture (more than what's shown here)...

After pictures will be coming in the spring or summer. I'm really looking forward to landscaping, putting in a garden, updating the deck, but we need to finish inside first (and wait for warmer temperatures).

The House - hallway/corridor

Before:

The hallway was plain... I added paint and we also refinished the original wood floor here as well... my favorite part is the storage at the end of the wall (you'll see..)

here are some pictures before we painted:

After:

I painted it the same color that is in the living room and darkened the existing hardware with oil rubbed bronze paint (thanks to Pinterest for the idea).

The House - basement {eclectic- in a bad way}

Before:

Here is the downstairs, for an old house this is a pretty good and live-able basement (I've seen some nasty basements...)

Here is the main room, with a bar and red accents, and old school tiled floor.
For the time being it's Dallan's cave, but eventually it will be a family room and the red trim will be gone and there will be carpet and the world will be a better place...

Here is the third bedroom, only one picture but I think that's enough to capture the weird pattern/paint job in there. Aside from that (and a little water damage) it's a really nice room and Kylee is using it on weekends for now....

And here is the monkey bathroom. The cool thing about this room is that whenever Livi or Emi went in there and saw the monkeys they would make cute monkey sounds... sadly enough the monkeys are gone now and the bathroom is all painted white (no more green).

And here is a boring picture of the laundry room (which is actually rather large, but all cement):

After:

pictures coming shortly....

The House - upstairs bathroom {pink panther style}

Before:

I really hate the pink tile in here, Chad doesn't mind it and he and his dad and his brother and even my dad all talk about how they did such a good job of tiling the floor and walls and how that ugly weird shaped bathtub is cast iron and will probably last forever... but I still hate the color. The previous owners obviously thought that the best way to combat the pink tile was to upstage it with brown/black and bubble gum pink walls.... not a good idea.

After:

just finishing up the pictures for this wall and then I plan to frame in the mirror.... pictures coming..

Update:
And here it is with pictures up on the last wall:

My next project is to frame the mirror....
