Before:
The previous owners took two beautiful, bright colors and then overwhelmed this room with both of them. I'll give them credit though for the beautiful moulding, built-in shelves, fireplace, and lights.
After:
We re-finished the original wood floors, my dad played a huge part in that and Chad put in tons of sanding time too. The floors were an old light color before, so we chose a dark walnut.
We sanded, stained, and put a few coats of polyurethane on the floor. Here's a few pictures of the process (so you can feel our pain).
We also painted the walls studio taupe which is a gray/taupe color that I absolutely love, and we repainted the baseboards white.
Here is the finished product (minus the decor).

We were lucky to have help from both of our parents and I was incredibly lucky to have the help and company of Andrea while painting all the walls. She was a trooper. Mike also pitched in helped us out tons with the sanding, I'm glad they live so close to us.
And these two were the best helpers of all
Okay here are the most recent pictures, the final product... (I think):

I don't think the pictures do the color justice. I think the gray looks really nice. I mean in the pictures it looks nice, but in person it looks even nicer. You had some cute helpers at the end. Looks like they even brought snacks.
ReplyDeleteI am loving everything about this living room! Including those two cute baby girls! You did a fantastic job!
